Alex Kat is a documentary photographer based in Athens, Greece.
Her work is built around long-term photographic projects that explore how environmental, cultural and social change shape the relationship between people and place. Through documentary photography, she examines landscapes, communities and lived experiences marked by transformation, revealing how change becomes embedded in everyday life.
Each project develops over time through observation, research and sustained engagement, allowing photography to move beyond recording events and towards a deeper understanding of the places and people it encounters.
Before dedicating her practice to independent documentary work, Alex spent many years photographing theatre and portraiture. That experience continues to influence her visual language, bringing a strong awareness of presence, atmosphere and human expression to her documentary practice.
Her work is driven by a long-term commitment to understanding contemporary realities through photography, creating projects that seek to observe rather than explain, and to reveal rather than conclude.
